education: hard work being a twin

It can be hard work being one of two; especially in the classroom.  sitting on the blue carpet on a friday afternoon waiting week after week to be voted ‘star of the week’ by your five-year old peers is tough enough; but when you have to watch your sister claim the sought after gold certificate twice; well it can be enough to drive you potty.

But eventually patience pays off, look what someone came home with……

apparently he got it for being kind…

He says his ten best mates voted for him; clearly he is learning how to influence and make friends.

This is my entry for The Gallery this week – pop along and see the rest

  1. Well done!!!! My brother would just of nicked mine! Love the pic especially as BB looks as she is in the middle of clapping and cheering her brother! X

  2. Ah bless him, well done! I bet it is tough being twins sometimes. Rewards like that mean so much to them – my SS gets so excited when he is given house points at school.

  3. I love it that not only did he get it for being kind but he has 10 BEST mates to big him up. That’s a good start in life, you must be so proud! Well done!

  4. Woohoo fantastic G’s best friend is a twin and he had the same situation as yourself, his sister must have gotten it 3 times before S finally got awarded it, I think we all jumped for joy when he presented it on the playground that Friday!

  5. Thank goodness for that! It’s difficult being a twin mum and watching one achieve and the other sad becasue they don’t isn’t it? I’m really pleased for him

  6. ha ha! see what I did there?- Funny me!
Love this – what a star, I dread all this, it’s the disappointment I can’t cope with. I will be the mother paying other kids to vote for my child so he is star of the week.

  7. You make me smile everytime I read your blog.. Thanks for that 😀

And I love the look on his face!! Good job twin boy!! Well done!

    Love,

  8. Bless. Both mine have had class awards (awarded by the teacher) but only Monkey has been star of the week (of the whole school!) so far. He got a class award this week but hasn’t apparently got the certificate. His was for kindness in picking up dropped items. Which made me laugh as he regularly drops his toast money wallet and I have to go in and help him find it!

  9. I want a certificate! This reminds me of when my sister and I worked a full day at the stables to get a free horse-riding lesson (my parents definitely had that one sussed) and I came first in the mucking out competition. My sister got a bronze and was livid. Who’d have thought there’d be such devastation at coming third for shovelling up crap?!

Great entry, love that he got rewarded for being kind. x

  10. Good for your little man. Yes I can see this already that it will be hard being a pair. Luckily the girls go to a big school and will be split from Reception onwards.

    Mich x

    • we couldnt split ours, we had the option but twin boy needs to be able to see twin girl to feel ‘safe’ she couldnt give a rats arse where he is.

Interestingly they play seperatly and with different friends – he just needs her near!

      awwwww

  11. Oh bless, he looks so proud! That actually brought tears to my eyes because of the story that went with it. Good on him – being liked by your peers is a worthy skill that’ll stand him in good stead 🙂 x
