Taking the kids to Blackpool was been a brilliant experience. I hadn’t realised how many memories the place held for me until I stepped foot back on the promenade.
Blackpool was brash, busty, at times a hint of barmy, but most of all it was bloody good fun.
We were invited back to my child holiday home by Choice Hotels and invited to review The Cliffs Hotel. Aimed at families, the hotel promises to be a place where parents can relax and kids can play whilst enjoying a rest from the sights of the seaside.
The Cliffs is about a mile from the Tower (which is my marker for the centre of town). You can enjoy a pleasant stroll back to the activity or simply hop on the trams that run continuously.
The hotel instantly appealed to the kids, as we checked in they were given full details of the kids club The Base, and BB broke into an enormous smile and started outfit planning when the kids disco was confirmed for eight thirty that evening.
Our room was spacious, with bunks, a double, and a single – meaning we didn’t have to share our sleeping space with bucking bronco BB. It was lovely to be able to share a room together, previously we have found many hotels only cater for a family of four.
The Cliffs served as a superb base for our trips to The Sandcastle, Madame Tussards, the Tower, and the Sealife centre. As promised, the kids were happy running riot in The Base, and we were happy upstairs eating copious amounts of food in the buffet style dining room.
We had barely checked in before we yanked on swimsuits and hit the puddle shaped pool. My eldest daughter swam, dived and grinned for an hour, whilst myself and BB looked on contendly from our bubbling jacuzzi.
The hotel also has a sauna, gym and weights room – sadly our jam packed activities kept us too busy to pump any iron…
The food was fabulous, with a mouthwatering range of buffet style starters, a tantalizing menu to chose from for main and plate after plate of scrumptious sweets for dessert.
None of us went hungry, in fact we barely needed to eat between our huge buffet breakfast and our incredibly filling dinner.
Full kids are happy kids – happy kids have happy parents.
We were happy parents!
A real highlight for the kids was our trip to the waterpark, The Sandcastle, we were visited first thing by the Sandcastle mascot – Mr Bling, which was an enormous treat for the children – who relished every second.
As dark descends over Blackpool and the illuminations remain quiet for the summer, The Cliffs comes alive. The kids club keeps the children busy with party games, pizza making and ping pong (amongst other things). When they pause for a break it is simply to move upstairs to the carabet lounge to host the kiddies disco.
Don’t panic, if you have older kids and don’t fancy watching the little ones cause chaos on the dance floor. The Cliffs has two other separate bar areas where you can relax in peace and quiet (or simply prolong dinner by sampling each dessert!)
Come nine pm and the Blackpool nightlife arrives at the hotel, with a range of entertainment from top class comedians and sensational singers. The entertainment is family orientated so the little ones can stay and it keeps going until late (clearly we never managed late…)
If you are looking for a hotel that gives you great access to the seaside frivolities that Blackpool has to offer, The Cliffs is a great place. The staff are courteous, helpful, the hotel is beautifully clean and has fun poking around every corner.
The kids loved it, we slept and ate well, we can only offer an enormous thankyou for being invited to spend the weekend with Choice Hotels.
Breaks start at The Cliffs from £32.00 per person bed and breakfast. (Prices right at time of publishing.) Please look for more details on the Choice Hotels website for full details and details of their other hotels.
Yes Blackpool does bring back fab memories (excluding when I was 6 and my first tooth fell out enroute there! 🙂 )
Clearly a memorable time!
We love a bit of seaside fun! 😉 xx
Twas ace!
Oh I haven’t been to Blackpool in years!!!
You should go,
*whispers* I’ve never been to Blackpool, but I’d really love to go to see why everyone loves it so much. This looks like the perfect place to stay: clean and modern rooms, buffet (great for fuss pots) and a pool – what’s not to like? Glad you had such a lovely break x
Thanks mrs x
I’ve never been to Blackpool – but you make it look so fun that I might have to put it on my wish list!
Everything is fun up north Annie x
My grandparents live in Blackpool and I have spent many Summer holidays there. Looks like you had a great place to stay and lots of fun too. I have never been to the Sandcastle! Must make the effort to go next time we are there as we usually always gravitate to the Pleasure Beach or the prom.
It has changed so much, is a really fun day out x
It is years since I have been to Blackpool, I’d love to take the kids for the illuminations. Thank you for the hotel recommendation
Very welcome x
I used to drive the kids up when the illuminations started but always drove back on the same night. The Cliffs looks a great alternative to the long drive back down on the M6!!
It is lovely, I’d stay again x x
Looks like a great time had by all. I grew up down south so I’ve never really been to Blackpool except a flying visit. Look likes a destination to consider.
You so need to go, Blackpool is the jewel of the north
Looks like you had lots of fun Jane. So pleased
It was excellent. Thanks Becky
Looks fab Mich! I think I’ve been in that rock shop 🙂
Was in the pier!
Oooops, I mean Jane not Mich obviously 🙂
Ha!!!!!
Oooh, you’ve made me feel really homesick now! I did a gig there once… as in, my supertalented singer/actress/dancer friend did a cabaret singing ste and I operated the tape player (ha! showing my age there!) for her… oh what fun! Very reasonable pricing, just like everything up north (remind me, what are we doing down here again?!) 😉
We were fools, fools I tell you
Looks like you all had a great time and how fun for YOU to go back to where you had so many childhood memories! I’ve never been to Blackpool but it’s on my list of places I need to check out. x
oh you must go x
